Peak Vista Community Health Centers and Penrose-St. Francis Health Services will celebrate the future of the former Penrose Community Hospital Tuesday, October 9 at 9:00 a.m. as Peak Vista takes ownership and establishes its 21sthealthcare site in the Pikes Peak Region
The initial phase of renovation will result in several Peak Vista Health Centers occupying the third floor of the Medical Office Building at 3207 N. Academy Blvd, including two Family Health Centers and the Developmental Disabilities Health Center. Peak Vista’s Pharmacy, Enrollment Services and Well Child Waiting will occupy parts of the first floor. Peak Vista’s Convenient Care Center will occupy a portion of the first floor hospital wing. The organizations currently providing outpatient services at this location will continue to do so including the Community Urgent Care.
“We are deeply grateful for the partnership we share with Penrose-St. Francis,” said Pam McManus, president and CEO of Peak Vista. “This provides a remarkable opportunity for us to ensure that the healthcare needs of the people in the Pikes Peak Region will be met with the very highest quality care for years to come.”
Long term plans include expansion of services and capacity in anticipation of growing healthcare needs in the community. As part of the transaction, Penrose-St. Francis discounted the fair-market value by $1.5 million as a capital donation to Peak Vista. The facility was closed in 2008 when Penrose-St. Francis moved all inpatient services to the new St. Francis Medical Center at Woodmen Rd. and Powers Blvd.
“Part of our mission is to improve the health of the community,” said Margaret Sabin, president and CEO of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. “One way that we can achieve that is through partnerships, such as this one with Peak Vista, to provide much needed access to medical services for those in our community.”
